Our Student Project Assistant Irem UYGUR from Archeology Department of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of DEU passed away due to the traffic accident. She lives in our hearts. .

Our Student Project Assistant Irem Uygur who deceased in an unfortunate traffic accident, was also interested in underwater archaeology. Irem?s collaborates had organized a commemoration dive for her in Karaburun, İzmir . We joined this activity on behalf of Project Staff and left flowers into the sea for Irem?s memory. Even through this very sad situation, we introduced the Project to 200 persons.

After the Opening Speeches by FOCUH and DEU, Assistant Project Coordinator Dr. Ali Kazım �Z, introduced the Project to the Participants during the Closing Ceremony

The project was completed with closing ceremony that was organized in the DEU Rector?s building on 14th of December 2007.The ceremony was organized in two parts. In the first part, after the speeches of Head of Executive Committee of the FOCUH and Vice Rector of DEU, the Project outputs were introduced to the guests. Afterwards, ?Certificates of Participation? were given to the Project staff and ?Certificates of Thanks? were given to the people and institutions who contributed voluntarily and indirectly to the Project. In the second part of the ceremony, a Panel was organized with the attendance of the guests. The guests were mostly university students and academics from DEU and different universities in İzmir . Among the guests were some of the civil societies such as the Chamber of the Geophysical Engineers..etc. The participation from Izmir Consulate of Greece, Cultural Attach� Mr. Georgios Petsotas, honored the Project's Closing Ceremony
